Gazelle — Seattle Screening + Q&A with Nadir Sarıbacak
Part of the Gazelle Special Event Screening Series
A special one-night theatrical event.
Yakup arrives in New York with one goal: to bring his family to safety.
After being forced to leave Turkey due to political unrest, he builds a fragile life in the United States while trying to reunite with his wife and daughter. When he learns the legal process could take years, he faces an impossible choice: wait, or risk everything.
As the pressure of uncertainty grows, the struggle shifts inward. Time begins to blur. Relationships strain. What starts as survival slowly turns into a psychological unraveling.
Gazelle is a deeply human story of exile, identity, and the quiet cost of waiting.

Special Event — Director in Attendance
Following the screening, the film will be followed by a live Q&A with director and lead actor Nadir Sarıbacak, moderated by Dr. Philip Clayton.
Drawing from his own migration experience, Sarıbacak brings a rare level of authenticity to Gazelle. The conversation will explore the personal story behind the film, the psychological impact of displacement, and the experience of rebuilding a life in a new country.
Dr. Philip Clayton is a professor, author, and speaker whose work focuses on some of the most pressing social issues of our time, including migration, climate change, and interreligious understanding. He holds a PhD from Yale University and has held guest professorships at Harvard, Cambridge, and the University of Munich. Over the course of his career, he has spoken at institutions and global forums including the United Nations, UNESCO, and the Parliament of the World’s Religions.
We’re honored to have him guide this conversation around Gazelle and the human questions at the center of the film.
