Gazelle — Houston Screening + Q&A with Nadir Sarıbacak

Part of the Gazelle Special Event Screening Series

A special one-night theatrical event.

Yakup arrives in New York with one goal: to bring his family to safety.

After being forced to leave Turkey due to political unrest, he builds a fragile life in the United States while trying to reunite with his wife and daughter. When he learns the legal process could take years, he faces an impossible choice: wait, or risk everything.

As the pressure of uncertainty grows, the struggle shifts inward. Time begins to blur. Relationships strain. What starts as survival slowly turns into a psychological unraveling.

Gazelle is a deeply human story of exile, identity, and the quiet cost of waiting.

Screening

Wednesday, April 29 — 7:30 PM (followed by Q&A)
Doors open at 7:00 PM

MATCH - Midtown Arts and Theater Center Houston

Special Event — Director in Attendance

The screening will be followed by a live Q&A with director and lead actor Nadir Sarıbacak, moderated by Doug Harris.

Drawing from his own migration experience, Sarıbacak brings a rare level of authenticity to the film. The conversation will open up the personal story behind Gazelle, the psychological weight of displacement, and what it means to rebuild a life in a new country.

Doug Harris, a founding member and former president of the Houston Film Critics Society, will guide the discussion, bringing a thoughtful perspective and a strong connection to the local film community.

With thanks to Joe Leydon, and wishing him a smooth recovery.
